  WaveCresters Chapter

The WaveCresters Chapter of the American Business Women's Association is still fairly new to the Huntington Beach area. We chartered our chapter just six years ago on July 7, 2003. Our formation team started with eleven members in March of 2003, and installed our chapter and officers four months to the day later with 72 members. As a group we continue to grow in positive ways everyday. The WaveCresters have the distinction of being the first traditional chapter to win the coveted "Crystal Award" from the national organization for being the top formation in the country in 2003. Some of our accomplishments over the past five years have included a toy and book drive to support "Project Self Sufficiency" and the Huntington Beach Children's Library, a "Taste Of" event to benefit the American Cancer Society, and "Picnic With Your Pets" which has raised funds for the Seal Beach Animal Care Center, Save Our Strays of Huntington Beach, Vest-a-Dog and P.A.W.s. Other chapter fundraisers have given us the opportunity to assist our members with continuing education by sending members to ABWA Conferences and events, and allowing many of our members to earn a mini MBA through the KU-MBA program put on by the national ABWA organization. The WaveCresters has also given out over $6000.00 in Scholarship money to local university students, and the Stephen Bufton Memorial Scholarship Fund.
